Wrestling 411’s Kyle Klingman and Jason Bryant talked wrestling with 2006 World Champion and 1996 NCAA champion Bill Zadick about his new position at USA Wrestling, the goals and aspirations he has as a coach at the Olympic Training Center.

Bret Maughan, assistant coach to his father Bucky at North Dakota State, probably needed to take a few days to recover after the completion of the 2009 USA Wrestling Cadet & Junior Nationals.

A point man for pretty much everything on the NDSU side of things, Maughan spends more time in the FargoDome than just about anyone. With the tournament done and wrestling fans arguing over the feasibility of Fargo as a host, what does the tournament mean to Maughan, his program and the Fargo-Moorhead area?

When North Dakota State University was at the top of the Division II wrestling food chain, Pete Isais was there helping longtime coach Bucky Maughan. Isais, currently the Director of National Events for USA Wrestling, spent seven years as an assistant coach in Fargo for the Bison and has long had his hands on the biggest wrestling tournament in the world.

Wrestling 411’s Jason Bryant and Kyle Klingman talked with Isais as he prepped for the 2009 USA Wrestling Cadet & Junior Nationals. What goes into the event? How does the Fargo community accept hordes of wrestlers invading the area in July?

He is a wrestling legend. Mark Schultz won three NCAA titles, two World titles, and an Olympic tSchultzesitle during his hall of fame career. But it had been years since Schultz attended a World Team Trials event.

All of that changed this year. Schultz — one of nine wrestlers to win an NCAA title, a World title and an Olympic title — took in all of the action in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Wrestling 411 spoke with Schultz about where he has been and what he has been doing for the past several years.

With the U.S. World Team Trials coming up May 30-31 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Wrestling 411 got a chance to talk wrestling with new National Team Coach Zeke Jones and USA Wrestling Communications guru Craig Sesker.

Jones talked about his move from Penn and took the opportunity to dispel any rumors he was looking to leave USAW for any of the recent college openings. Sesker, an award-winning journalist, spoke of who to watch for at the upcoming trials and why this year will be fun for the fans.

With a new week upon us, Kevin Jackson, the newly appointed head wrestling coach at Iowa State, has a lot of time to reflect. He also has a long drive to Kansas City. But along with Jackson is his new boss, AD Jamie Pollard.

Joe Parisi, the head wrestling coach of the NAIA national champion Lindenwood Lions joined Wrestling 411 radio on Tuesday to talk about the NAIA, his team’s run at the championships and the diversity within wrestling. Parisi was very vocal about some changes that need to be made in college wrestling, not just on the NAIA level, but in the entire realm of college wrestling.

Henry Cejudo, the youngest Olympic wrestling champion in American history, was at the USA Wrestling FolkHenry Cejudostyle Nationals in Cedar Falls, Iowa, as the event’s celebrity guest. Cejudo spent most of the day signing autographs and taking pictures with placewinners at the event.

Wrestling 411 talked with Cejudo at the conclusion of the event and learned more about his future in wrestling. Cejudo discussed the role kids of kids wrestling events, why his name isn’t in the current freestyle rankings at 121 pounds, his relationship with Terry Brands, and how winning the Olympic has changed his life.

The college wrestling season has ended and the international season is about to get underway. And there is no better Bill Zadickway to kick things off with an interview with the Bill Zadick, the United States’s most recent World champion in freestyle. Zadick won a World title in 2006 at 145.5 pounds and is the current Assistant National Teams Coach at USA Wrestling.

Wrestling 411 caught up with Zadick at the 2009 NCAA Wrestling Tournament after a USA Wrestling World Team practice. Zadick discussed the differences between winning an NCAA title and a World title, his new job, winning a World title at 33 years of age, and his Lebanese heritage.
