125 Notes
Jake Oster trailed 7-6 going into the third period against E-Town’s Tyler Erdman, who defended from bottom well in the second, but was turned three times in the third period and Oster picked up eight nearfall points to outdistance a game true freshman … RIT’s Mike McInally rallied from a 5-1 deficit against Del Val’s Chris Sheetz to move into the semifinals with a 9-6 victory … Defending national champion Seth Flodeen gave up a takedown and two nearfall points in the third period against Ithaca’s Seth Ecker. The Ithaca 125-pounder tacked on a riding time point for the final 7-3 margin. … Coe’s Clayton Rush moved into the semifinals with a 2-1 tiebreaker victory over Wartburg’s Mark Kist. It was Rush’s fifth win of the year over Kist, the third in overtime/tiebreaker.

Results
#1 Jake Oster (Elmhurst) dec. #8 Tyler Erdman (Elizabethtown) 14-7.
#5 Seth Ecker (Ithaca) dec. #4 Seth Flodeen (Augsburg) 7-3.
#2 Clayton Rush (Coe) dec. #7 Mark Kist (Wartburg) 2-1, TB1

133 Notes
Nick Nothern of Cornell upset top-seeded Travis Lang of Augsburg with two third-period takedowns, including a late one to ice it in an 8-5 victory in the top bracket. … Wartburg’s Matt Kelly broke a 1-1 tie by picking up two and two late in the third period and then tacked on a riding time for a 5-1 victory over St. John’s Mogi Bataar. … Brandon Ball kept Coe (sorry for the pun) rolling by stepping over on Thiel’s Corey Brown in the second period to get the fall at 3:52. … Early points were enough for Zac Bartlett of Luther to upend third-seeded Brandon Clemmer of Del Val 5-3.
All four wrestlers in the semifinals are from the Iowa Conference.

Results
#8 Nick Nothern (Cornell) dec #1 Travis Lang (Augsburg) 8-5.
#4 Matt Kelly (Wartburg) dec. #5 Mogi Bataar (St. John’s) 5-1.
#6 Zac Bartlett (Luther) dec. #3 Brandon Clemmer (Delaware Valley) 5-3.
#2 Brandon Ball (Coe) FALL Corey Brown (Thiel) 3:52.

141 Notes
Top-seeded Austin Bautista of Whitewater moved on with another close victory, edging Oswego State’s Derrick Smith. … Minga Batsukh gave St. John’s its first semifinalist with a solid 9-3 win over Jordan Loy of Loras. … Two one-pointers took place in the bottom bracket as a late escape lifted Corey Paulish of Williams past UW-Stevens Point’s Chris DeCleene 5-4. … Tony Valek of Augsburg rode Zach McKray of Wartburg tough in the third but couldn’t draw a stall or a earn a turn and ended up falling 6-5 to the second seed. Augsburg starts the round losing in the quarters at the first three weights.

Results
#1 Austin Bautista (UW-Whitewater) dec. #8 Derrick Smith (Oswego State) 3-2.
#4 Minga Batsukh (St. John’s) dec. Jordan Loy (Loras) 9-3
Corey Paulish (Williams) dec. #6 Chris DeCleene (UW-Stevens Point) 5-4.
#2 Zach McKray (Wartburg) dec. #7 Tony Valek (Augsburg) 6-5.

149 Notes
The top four seeds advanced into the semifinals for the first time this evening. Augsburg’s Willy Holst stopped the bleeding for the Auggies, winning their first match in the quarters with an 8-2 victory over Rhode Island College’s Kevin Sutherland. Holst will face fourth-seeded Matt Mauseth of UW-Lax, an 11-6 winner over John Carroll’s Dan Mizener. Down low, Cortland State’s Paul LeBlanc moved into the semifinals with a solid 7-5 win over unseeded Blaine Woszczak of Ithaca. LeBlanc controlled the entire match, but did give up a takedown late. … Jacob Naig put another bonus point up for Wartburg, breaking open a close match with two takedowns and a set of nearfall points to major Del Val’s Dale Fava 9-1.

Results
#1 Willy Holst (Augsburg) dec. Kevin Sutherland (Rhode Island College) 8-2.
#4 Matt Mauseth (UW-Lax) dec. #5 Dan Mizener (John Carroll) 11-6.
#3 Paul LeBlanc (Cortland State) dec. Blaine Woszczak (Ithaca) 7-5.
#2 Jacob Naig (Wartburg) MD Dale Fava (Delaware Valley) 9-1.

157 Notes
Wartburg’s Aaron Wernimont reversed Ithaca’s Willie Horwath to his back to start the second period and earned the fall 23 seconds later to move into the semifinals at 157. … Ohio Northern got a semifinalist at 157 pounds as unseeded Luke Miller used a riding time point to top another unseeded Dan Dicolo of TCNJ 4-3. … Jason Adams’ third-period escape and it enough to propel him into the semifinals over a scrappy Mike Martini of Rhode Island College. Adams will face Olivet’s Jason Brew, a 7-2 winner over Messiah’s Craig Gin, in a matchup between returning Division III finalists.

Results
#1 Aaron Wernimont (Wartburg) FALL #8 Willie Horwath (Ithaca) 3:23.
Luke Miller (Ohio Northern) dec. Dan Dicolo (TCNJ) 4-3.
#3 Jason Adams (Augsburg) dec. Mike Martini (Rhode Island College) 4-3.
#2 Jason Brew (Olivet) dec. Craig Gin (Messiah) 7-2.

165 Notes
After trading reversals in the third period and trailing and behind on riding time, Wartburg’s Justin Hanson reversed Lycoming’s Chris Dahlheimer and rode him out the remaining 30 seconds to eliminate the riding time and move into the semifinals. Hanson held on as Dahlheimer tried to switch late, but time ran out before Dahlheimer could get free or come out for a reversal. … Josh Terrell of Dubuque defeated returning National Champion Tyler Burkle of Coe for the third straight time in a 5-1 quarterfinal victory. Ben Youel of North Central was solid in all positions in an 11-4 victory over Southern Maine’s Michael Monin. Youel will face returning runner-up Ben Hoover of Maranatha Baptist. Hoover rode out Rose-Hulman’s Tyler Goble 5-4 in the third to hand on to the one-point victory.

Results
#1 Justin Hanson (Wartburg) dec. Chris Dahlheimer (Lycoming) 7-6.
#4 Josh Terrell (Dubuque) dec. #5 Tyler Burkle (Coe) 5-1.
#3 Ben Youel (North Central) dec. #6 Michael Monin (Southern Maine) 11-4.
#2 Ben Hoover (Maranatha Baptist) dec. Tyler Goble (Rose-Hulman) 5-4.

174 Notes
Dubuque’s Evan Brown needed just one takedown and an escape to knock off unseeded Bryon Grothus of Coe 3-0 to reach the semis. Brown will face Cornell’s Kyle Kehrli, a winner in sudden victory over Wilkes’ Frank Heffernan. With Kehrli holding a 5-4 lead with riding time, Heffernan threw Kehrli by and slid in the leg taking him down for the tying takedown just as the buzzer went off. Kerhli finished the match off with a takedown quickly into sudden victory. … Zach Molitor of Augsburg topped third-seeded Kyle Vanderhyde of Olivet 8-3 in a very bizarre quarter. Vanderhyde was in control for the first half of the match before hitting the wall and giving up two easy takedowns. Molitor rode tough on top, drew two stall calls for an extra point and then a riding time point to win with a deceptive 8-3 win. Vanderhyde, a Midlands placewinner, just simply broke. … Rocky Mantella of Del Val won, but it wasn’t pretty in a 4-3 outcome over UW-Lax’s Michael Schmitz. Mantella led 3-2 with riding time in the third and gave up a late stall point, but still used the riding time for the difference.

133 Notes
Nick Nothern of Cornell survived a scare from Wilkes’ Josh Pauling by scoring a takedown in the final 17 seconds to pick up a 6-4 win. Nothern, a returning All-American, is seeded eighth. … Fourth-seeded Matt Kelly of Wartburg was trailing against unseeded Jered Kern of UW-Stevens Point in the third before one big move changed the tempo of the match. Kelly reversed Kern to his back with a cradle trailing 2-0 (with riding time) and took a 5-2 lead. Kern broke the hold and reversed Kelly and trailed by a point with under 1:00 to go. He had riding time locked up but was hit for stalling in the final 10 seconds to give Kelly a 6-4 lead. Kern cut Kelly free to try to get a tying takedown (with the riding time point assured), but could not. Kelly advances 7-5. … Top-seeded Travis Lang of Augsburg moved on with a dominant 17-5 major decision over Heidelberg’s Tony Lawler. … Third-seeded Brandon Clemmer of Del Val used an escape point and a riding time point to move past Chad Winowich of Ithaca … The first upset of the day came at 133, where Thiel freshman Corey Brown knocked off once-beaten Nick Cucciniello of Johnson & Wales 9-4. Top-seeded Jerome Owens is knocked off by unseeded Bryon Grothus of Coe. Leading 1-0 heading into the third, Grothus made a costly mistake after riding Owens for 43 seconds and cut him loose, negating any chance at a riding time point. Late in the match with the score tied, Grothus is fighting off a knee pull and the two get into a scramble and Grothus comes out on top as time expires, sending Owens to the consolations after going undefeated this season. Missouri transfer Michael Schmitz put seventh-seeded Troy Carlson of Chicago into the consolations with an 8-3 decision. He’ll face Rocky Mantella of Del Val, a 9-5 winner over Ryan Dormann of Stevens. Fourth-seeded David Priest of Ithaca was upset by Wilkes’ Frank Heffernan.
